ÆNO

Æno (Emanuela Serafino) è nata nel 1972 ed è vissuta a Torino fino a vent’anni. Il suo interesse per la pittura si manifesta alla fine degli anni Ottanta con una prima esperienza di formazione di pittura su ceramica, successivamente approfondita da autodidatta su materiali diversi e con modalità al di fuori delle tecniche classiche.

Profondamente attratta dai particolari del fumetto noir, dal disegno orientale antico, inizia a scopo ludico la riproduzione e creazione con pastelli e acquerelli di piccoli particolari che solo più tardi prenderanno forma.

L’inquietudine e la ricerca profonda e radicata di Æno di significati dell’essere e dell’esistenza sono intrecciati nella sua stessa vita, come lo sono gli infiniti tratti e impercettibili fili che compongono i suoi disegni. Tutto e nulla si intrecciano, infinito e infinitesimo non sono così distinti così come la sua formazione personale, con un profondo interesse per le teorie analitiche di cui ha avuto un insegnamento e pratica accademica.

Negli stessi anni  l’estendersi dell’attività professionale nell’ambito culturale e sociale la mettono in contatto con  l’ambiente artistico, incrementando notevolmente la sua curiosità ad approfondire e a sperimentare qualcosa di nuovo. Da qui le prime tele.

Acrilici e oli si fondono, e sopra le chine tracciano segni che si aggregano riempiendo gli spazi come forme di vita.

La maniacale attenzione per i particolari e le forme simboliche si esprime attraverso figure o frazioni di figure autopoietiche che si attraggono e si inglobano progressivamente verso le creazioni primordiali o mitiche.

Nell’arte come nella vita degli uomini, tutto si crea e tutto si distrugge allo stesso tempo per dare vita a spazi nuovi o per dare spazio a vite nuove.

Così come un quadro di Æno è indistinto e allo stesso tempo circoscritto e riconoscibile, così chi entra nel suo studio si trova in un luogo di luoghi, di cose e non cose dove il tutto e il nulla sono possibili.

Oggi Æno vive e lavora da circa un decennio come artista e analista tra Torino, Casale e Alessandria.

Æno ( Emanuela Serafino) was born in 1972 and has lived in Turin (Italy) until her twenties. Her interest in painting arose at the end of the eighties, thanks to a pottery class, followed by a selfpracticing experience on different kinds of materials and unconventional techniques.

Deeply fascinated by the rich details of noircomics and by ancient far eastern drawings, she started to have fun with sketching tiny particulars with watercolors and pastels, which were going to evolve into mature shapes later.

Disquiet and the deep search for the meaning of existence are as much interlaced in her own life as they are in the uncountable traits and faint threads tying in her paintings. Everything and nothing embrace one another, infinite and infinitesimal cross link, and so do her professional skills, focused on psychoanalytical theories, which are part of her academic background.

Those were the years of her professional development in social and cultural contexts, leading her to join the art world, which would further have pushed her to explore and investigate new creative endeavours. This gave life to the first paintings on canvas.

Oils and acrilics fuse together, and overlay ink traits by drawing strokes that combine and fill the blanks as living creatures.

An extreme attention to detail results in self-generating figures or partial figures that attract each other, then merge slowly into primordial mythical creations.

In art, as well as in human existence, everything is both created and destroyed to bring life to new spaces and make room for new lives.

Æno’ s paintings are, at the same time, both undefined and distinctive; whoever walks into her studio enters a place made of places, things and abstractions where both everything and nothing are possible.

Over the past ten years Æno has been living and working as an artist and a psycho-analyst, among Casale Monferrato, North- Western Italy, Alessandria and Turin.
